Calculate your baseline first
It converts area from square feet to square yards, multiplies by compacted thickness in inches and the selected unit weight, then divides pounds by 2,000 to estimate US tons.
The default 110 lb per square yard per inch is a common compacted asphalt estimating value, but suppliers and mix designs vary. Use the value provided by your asphalt plant or project specification when available.
Most paving jobs need a buffer for edges, handwork, uneven base, truck minimums and compaction differences. Simple rectangular work may use 3–5%; complex layouts or uncertain depth may need more.
Results are estimates generated locally in your browser using a compacted asphalt unit weight method. Actual material use can vary by mix design, density, compaction, subgrade, moisture, edge loss, waste, minimum order quantities and local construction standards.
