Bench Press Calculator FAQ
Which one-rep max formula is used?
This tool averages Epley, Brzycki, Lombardi, O’Conner and Mayhew estimates, then shows Epley and Brzycki separately for comparison.
How accurate is a bench press 1RM estimate?
It is most reliable for clean sets of about 2–10 reps. Very high-rep sets, partial reps or failed grinders can overstate or understate your true max.
Should I test my actual 1RM?
Only test with proper spotters, warmups, safety pins and good technique. The calculator is often safer for planning day-to-day training loads.
