It multiplies wound area by application thickness and an ointment density estimate of 0.85 g/cm³, then multiplies by the number of applications and adds the selected allowance.
What application thickness is used?
The default is 2 mm, approximately the thickness of a nickel, applied once daily unless a healthcare professional directs otherwise.
Why might the actual amount differ?
Real use varies with wound shape, changing wound size, product left in the tube, dressing technique, drainage, and the clinician’s treatment plan.
