The calculator subtracts a 20% earned-income deduction, the applicable standard deduction, eligible dependent care, medical and child-support deductions, plus an estimated excess-shelter deduction. It then estimates the benefit as the maximum allotment minus 30% of calculated net income.
This version uses federal FY 2026 figures effective October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026 for the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C. Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and state-specific categorical eligibility rules require separate calculations.
