Landscape Calculator
Estimate mulch, soil, gravel, edging, plants, and total project cost for rectangular landscaping areas.
Add the length and width of the landscaping area.
Select depth, material type, waste allowance, and pricing.
See volume, bags, edging, plants, and total project cost.
This calculator assumes a rectangular area and an even material depth. Plant count is estimated using square spacing. Actual quantities can vary because of curves, slopes, soil conditions, compaction, bag fill, and installation methods.
How much extra material should I order?
A 5% to 15% allowance is common for uneven ground, settling, spillage, and measurement differences.
How deep should mulch be?
Most landscape beds use about 2 to 4 inches of mulch, depending on the material and site conditions.
How is plant quantity estimated?
The calculator divides the total area by the square of the selected plant spacing.
