Calculate your baseline first
It multiplies system size by peak sun hours, 365 days and your selected performance ratio. This creates an estimated annual kWh output before splitting it into self-used energy and exported energy.
Payback is the net installed cost after incentives divided by estimated first-year annual savings. Shorter payback generally means a stronger financial result, but actual results depend on rates, export credits and site conditions.
Self-used solar usually saves the full retail electricity rate, while exported energy may receive a lower credit. Higher self-consumption often improves savings and payback.
