Curvature Calculator
Calculate curvature, radius of curvature, arc length, central angle, and sagitta for a circular curve using the values you already know.
Choose radius, diameter, chord and sagitta, or arc and angle.
Add the dimensions of your circular curve.

For a circle, curvature is constant at every point and equals the reciprocal of the radius.
This calculator assumes a perfect circular arc. Chord, sagitta, radius, and arc results describe the same ideal circle and do not account for elliptical, parabolic, or irregular curves.
What does curvature measure?
Curvature measures how quickly a curve changes direction. Higher curvature means a sharper bend.
What is radius of curvature?
It is the radius of the circle that best represents the curve at a point. For a true circle, it is simply the circle radius.
How do chord and sagitta determine radius?
For chord length c and sagitta s, radius is R = c²/(8s) + s/2.
